Certifying Enrollment to the VA:

Certification is the process in which the ULM Office of Veterans Affairs electronically submits a student鈥檚 certification of enrollment to the VA for processing and payment of the student鈥檚 education benefits. Enrollment is reported to VA (certified) based on eligible courses the student is scheduled for. Ineligible courses include:

  • Courses not required for the student鈥檚 degree,
  • Courses not approved by the student鈥檚 advisor, and
  • Courses that the student has already received credit for.

After applying for benefits, all students receiving veteran educational benefits are required to: 1) Enroll at ULM and be fully admitted, 2) Be advised by their academic advisor and register for classes for the semester in which they wish to use their educational benefits. & 3) Complete the online Veterans Enrollment Certification Form found at the following link:

If you have any difficulties signing into MyULM or accessing the form, please contact the IT Help Desk. Contact the SCO at vetaffairs@ulm.edu if there is any difficulty completing the certification form.

After receiving the required forms and information, the ULM Office of Veterans Affairs will submit the student鈥檚 certification of enrollment to the VA for processing. Processing with the VA can take up to four weeks.

Note: If a student is a Chapter 33 dependent or 35 dependent recipient, the Social Security Number of the Veteran is needed to certify enrollment with the VA.

During the Semester: Any changes to your course schedule for the Semester that occur after submitting your enrollment certification form must be reported to the ULM Veterans Affairs Office via email. This means if the student changes, adds, drops, or withdraws from a course at any point during the semester, the office needs to know. Changes in enrollment have to be examined, and if necessary, amendments to enrollment with the VA have to be submitted.
