Joint Service Transcript (JST)

Joint Service Transcripts can also be submitted to the university to potentially count towards your desired degree path. Below is the process for how ULM evaluates Joint Service Transcripts.

Process for evaluation and awarding of credit hours based on military training and experience:

  • Official military transcript must be sent to ULM electronically to docman@ulm.edu. A DD-214 is not sufficient and cannot be used in place of a JST. Official JST鈥檚 can be ordered at https://jst.doded.mil/official.html.
  • The Student Success Center will receive and review the transcript after the Admission鈥檚 Office receives it. An initial evaluation will be done, and a recommendation for credit will be prepared based on the student鈥檚 selected major.
  • The student鈥檚 academic department and dean will review the recommendation of credit and make additions or changes based on course descriptions and any possible substitutions into the student鈥檚 curriculum.
  • The student will be informed of the advantages and disadvantages of posting the credit to the transcript and how these credits might affect their scholarship and financial aid eligibility. Only credit that is requested by the student will be posted. Once posted, it cannot be removed.
  • Before credit is posted to the student鈥檚 record, a recommendation of credit form must be signed by the student, Department Head, Dean, and Registrar鈥檚 Office.

If a military or veterans affiliated student changes their major, they may request a re-evaluation of the transcript to determine if there is additional degree-applicable credit that can be posted.

Credit will not be posted for students who have not declared their major. It will only be posted once a major is declared. Military transcripts received for Undeclared Students will be sent from the Student Success Center to the Registrar's Office for filing until the student declares a major.
